Metafrax discussed prospects of cooperation with Ocher machine builders
On September 14, the delegation from Ocher visited Metafrax Chemicals. The visit was organized on the initiative of the Legislative Assembly deputies of the Perm Territory, Armen Garslyan and Maria Konovalova.
A business meeting with Aleksei Solodnikov, the Head of the Ochersky municipal district, Aleksandr Nuzhdin, General Director of the Ocher machine-building plant (OMZ) and Aleksei Tiunov, Director of Production was held by Viktor Maier, the First Deputy General Director of PJSC Metafrax Chemicals and Andrei Davydov, Commercial Director of the plant.
They spoke about the history, activities and geography of Metafrax Group, the range of products and ongoing investment projects. One of the most large-scale projects in recent years is the construction of Ammonia-Urea-Melamine (AUM) complex, it is in its final stage. Commissioning works have started at another new construction site of the company: a formaldehyde plant, which will be the third in terms of this product's production at the company's site. Construction of the paraformaldehyde plant is coming to an end as well.
The management of OMZ also presented their company with a rich history and traditions, this year the plant celebrates its 260th anniversary. The company specializes in three main lines: production of steel structures for various applications, oil equipment production and wheelset repair of freight wagons. The geography of deliveries for manufactured products reaches 20 countries.
“Our advantages are high quality, competitive price and flexible terms. We might adjust ourselves to the customer and expand our capacities if necessary,” said Aleksandr Nuzhdin.
The dialogue between meeting participants was as open as possible. They also discussed the Metafrax Chemicals experience in staff training and prospects of cooperation in the part of steel structure fabrication and wheelset repair. This month representatives of the subsidiary company MetaTransStroi are planning to visit Ocher Machine-Building Plant on the return visit.
As Victor Maier mentioned during the meeting, there are contact points present. So, there are real prospects of partnership. Accompanied by Commercial Director Andrei Davydov, the guests visited workshops of the plant, got acquainted with production technologies, visited the construction sites of AUM complex as well as formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde plants. Getting acquainted with the repair workshop (POROTS), OMZ executives noted the experience of Metafrax Chemicals in implementing the national project to increase labor productivity. The machine-building plant is also an active participant of the project, introducing lean production principles at its site.
“The development of industrial cooperation is one of the key priorities in the economic sphere set out by Dmitry Makhonin, the Governor of the Perm Territory. Joint projects with large holdings allow small and medium-sized businesses to increase the volume and quality of their products," said Maria Konovalova.

In April 2021, Dmitry Makhonin, the Governor of the Perm Territory, and Vladimir Daut, General Director of PJSC Metafrax Chemicals, approved the road map for cooperation between PJSC Metafrax Chemicals and the industrial complex of the Perm Territory. The document was signed on the platform of the VI Perm Engineering and Industrial Forum.
The road map is aimed at expanding cooperation in terms of industrial cooperation, non-resource export and exchange of best practices in the field of management and ecology. The implementation period of the road map is until December 31, 2023. The cooperation plan provides for the preparation of commercial proposals on permanent basis to supply the region's enterprises with products for Metafrax, consideration of these proposals at meetings of the Scientific and Technical Council, determination of the priority list for these products, voluntary qualification of the Perm Territory enterprises in PJSC Metafrax Chemicals and other activities.
