The top priority
On 5th June there is a celebration of the Earth day. The purpose of this day is to draw people’s attention to the ecology issues.
For big companies environmental care becomes the same priority as the production activity. The constant monitoring, negative impact control on ecology helps to prevent a lot of problems and minimize negative effect on the environment.
Priority of nature protection issues is formalized in Metafrax Group at the company mission level. Holding company philosophy within the rebranding procedure was formulated this way: “Creation of the future ecological, social and business environment by responsible development of the chemical industry”.
The company systematically works to decrease negative impact on the environment. Based on results of 2019 Metafrax Chemicals by 1,5 increased the expenses on the environment protection. The current expenses of the company for environment protection are 150,6 mln. rubles (based on results of 2018 - 97,7 mln. rubles).
Traditionally nature protection activities of Metafrax are focused on waste water collection and treatment, protection and recovery of surface and ground water, protection of atmosphere air and environment from the production and consumption wastes.
At the limit of the sanitary-protection zone of the company during the last years no violations of the maximum permissible concentration for the specific for PJSC Metafrax contaminations were recorded.
“New challenges, new requirements to the toxic level, wastes disposal not only put frames and limits in front of us, but open the possibilities to create new ecological products with high added value. Modern technologies in chemical industry suggested by the licensors already are intrinsically ecological, they are in compliance with the most strict standards and rigid requirements. At the same time it’s important that these technologies are to the maximum extent focused on the resource saving, closer attention to which, in my opinion, is one of the valuable trends of our time”, says the Chairman of PJSC Metafrax Board of Directors Armen Garslyan.
Apart from the current environment protection activity, Metafrax invests substantial amounts in equipment modernization. Out of dedicated actions taken by PJSC Metafrax during the last years could be mentioned:
- to decrease methanol emission platinum catalyst was purchased for replacement on the reactor of the methanol production catalyst treatment. In the 2nd quarter of 2020 the catalyst was loaded, effectiveness of the actions taken is expected to be estimated in the nearest time;
- gasification of the train shed of Vodorazdelnaia station in 2018. As a result contamination emission to the atmosphere from the boilers was decreased by 44,4 t.
- effectiveness increase of the existing treatment units on hexamine and UFC productions, as well as performance adjustment works in 2017, 2018, 2019 allowed to reach emission decrease in average by 45 t.
