A Gift for History Fans

JSC Karbolit helped to publish a unique book about the museum's collection of stereopairs.

JSC Karbolit took part in the project to publish Aleksandra Biryukova's book "History through Binoculars. A Museum Collection of Stereopairs". The honored worker of culture, a well-known local lore specialist from Orekhovo-Zuyevo wrote a book about this town based on the collection of stereophotographs (stereopairs) from the collection of the Orekhovo-Zuyevo History Museum, which acted as the project partner.

The book presents panoramic photographs made between 1908 and 1915. Most of them haven’t been previously published. The stereo photographs show images of industrial shops, town buildings, including churches and buildings of Moscow-Kazan railway, landscapes of Orekhovo-Zuyevo neighborhoods. There are reportage pictures of town events, church festivals, sports competitions and everyday scenes. Each stereo pair is accompanied by a description, i.e. a short historical note, explaining what is shown in the image.

Thanks to the company's support, we successfully managed to complete this interesting project, not only for scholars and local lore specialists, but also for all history fans," said Anna Lukina, Director of the Orekhovo-Zuyevsky Local History Museum.
