Award for ESG-principled stance
The Metafrax Chemicals Company became the winner of the "Firm Signs" award, established by the business publication Kommersant-Prikamye. The award was received by Armen Garslyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Metafrax Group, in the nomination "Turned the ESG-high-minded", established for the first time.
The tenth anniversary ceremony of the award "Firm Signs" took place on December 1st, 2023 at the Morion Digital site. The awards were awarded to ten representatives of the business community of the Perm Region, who develop the region's economy and change its life for the better.
As explained the director of the Kommersant-Prikamye newspaper,-Lyudmila Kroshechkina, Metafrax was noted for increasing investments in ecology and social development last year, despite all the changes in the market and external challenges, thus maintaining loyalty to the Company's philosophy and mission.
- Recognition is, of course, pleasant, but it is doubly pleasant to receive it in such a socially responsible nomination. For us in the company, the most important thing is people, and then everything else. Metafrax is a company about people, about the attitude towards people and the world around them. We have been working towards this for a long time, and in Gubakha our company exists inseparably from the town, actively participating in its development," Armen Garslyan noted.
Metafrax Group has significant experience in implementing sustainable development strategies and ESG practices. In particular, in 2023, the Ammonia-Urea-Melamine Complex was put into operation at the production site in Gubakha. In frames of this project, an innovative practice was applied on the use of flue gases from methanol reforming furnaces for the CO2 recovery, using it for the synthesis of urea and melamine. This has significantly reduced carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and reduced water consumption.
Metafrax Chemicals participates in the comprehensive renovation of Gubakha's appearance, acts as the main partner of the Urals Chemical Technological College in the implementation of the federal project "Professionalitet" on the basis of the educational institution. Among the ESG initiatives implemented by Metafrax are a number of charitable and philanthropic projects. For these purposes the Company allocated more than 54 million rubles in 2022, and over 40 million rubles in 9 months of 2023.
The Company's efforts in this area have repeatedly been highly appreciated by experts. The report on the sustainable development of the Metafrax Chemicals/ JSC, for 2022 was highly appreciated in the rating of annual reports of companies by the RAEX agency. The experts rated the document four out of five stars (very high quality). By the end of 2022, Metafrax received an "above average" rating in the ESG index of Russian business for the second time from the research agencies National Credit Ratings and RosBusinessConsulting.
