Diploma theses were evaluated by practitioners
Top managers of Metafrax Chemicals and Metadynea took part in the work of state commissions for the protection of bachelor's degree theses of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Diploma defense was successfully completed in the areas of study "Business Management" and "Management". Young specialists presented their works, including their own startups, on the example of which they were able to test their theoretical knowledge and work out practical skills. The results were evaluated by Evgeny Gavrilov, Head of the Metafrax Chemicals Project Office for Strategy, and Andrey Kondrashov, Financial Director of Metadynea, as part of the commissions.
The work of the commission was carried in two stages. At first, the experts evaluated the answers given by the students on the final exam. The tickets contained theoretical and practical questions. After that, the commission began to evaluate the defense of final qualifying works (FQW).
Yevgeny Gavrilov was the chairman of the state commission of "Business Management" direction, where three of the five members of the commission were practitioners:
- The practice of participation of business representatives is a modern, well–established trend. For the guys, this is an opportunity not only to test themselves, but also to get feedback from existing specialists on how applicable their solutions are in real business. I think our comments will also be useful for them if they decide to further develop the projects they have launched. I especially remember the defense on the topic of business process optimization. Despite her modest experience, the graduate demonstrated knowledge of different notations in the description of business processes and was able to argue for the choice of one of them.
Andrey Kondrashov, who took part in the work of the state commission of "Management" direction, also noted the activity of students:
- The guys were able to demonstrate high theoretical training. Almost all students received "excellent" and "good" marks at the end of the exam. This is despite the fact that the "business representatives" who participated in the commission were very active in asking additional questions, often beyond the timing. If we talk about the protection of the FQW, we also want to note a fairly deep study of the topics. It is clear that the graduates immersed themselves in the essence of the issues under consideration and tried to understand how certain management techniques can be applied in practice. The defense itself was also lively, the students demonstrated their ability to present materials, focus on the main thing and defend their position.
At the end of the defense, students were able to communicate with members of the state commission and discuss the submitted projects in more detail. As the top managers involved in the defense noted, the participation of business representatives can be mutually beneficial. It allows students and universities to better understand what future employers expect from them, and employers to take a closer look at future employees, assess their potential, and in some cases make a job offer.
