Metadynea: 20 years on its path of leadership
On March 3, 2024, Metadynea celebrates its 20th anniversary. During this time, the company has become an integral part of the country's chemical industry, reliably connecting producers of raw materials and end users.
Over two decades, Metadynea has undergone many transformations that have contributed to its stable development. Many of these changes became turning points for the company's employees and partners, creating new production directions, workplaces and stimulating the development of production site infrastructure.
Metadynea was founded on March 3, 2004 as a joint Russian-Finnish venture. Its founders were leaders of the chemical industry in their fields – JSC Metafrax (Russia) and Dynea Chemicals Oy (Finland). In the same year, in October, the first production site was opened in Gubakha (Perm Territory) and the production of urea-formaldehyde resins was launched.
The history of the second production site in Orekhovo-Zuyevo (Moscow region) began with the foundation of LLC Carbodin, a subsidiary of СJSC Metadynea, concern Dynea Chemicals Oy and the Russian company JSC Karbolit. Between 2006 and 2010, production here significantly increased. A wide product range was formed for consumers, providing a variety of resin brands for different industries. In order to further develop the production of CJSC Metadynea, in 2007 a contract was signed with PERSTORP (Sweden) for the purchase of a concentrated formalin production plant with a capacity of 67 thousand tons per year. In 2010, this project was successfully completed and the first batch of the product was received. Expanding the range of products using Dynea technology, in April 2012, Metadynea launched the production of impregnating resins in Orekhovo-Zuyevo.
In 2012, the company was transformed into a limited liability company, and JSC Metafrax became the sole founder of Metadynea . As a result of the reorganization of the Dynea concern, the Finnish company Dynea Chemicals Oy withdrew from the joint venture, but continued the process of technical support for production in Russia until 2017.
In 2013, LLC Carbodin was joined to LLC Metadynea together with a new production of novolac resins and pulverbakelite with a total design capacity of 7,200 tons per year that was started-up in 2011. The authorized capital of Metadynea increased from 240 million to 1 billion rubles
From 2014 to the present, a significant expansion of the production capacities and infrastructure of both sites in Russia continues. Warehouses of raw materials and storage of finished products were put into operation in Orekhovo-Zuyevo, the first synthesis of urea-formaldehyde resins was made in new reactors, and the second formalin production plant with a capacity of 90 thousand tons per year was started-up.
The third reactor with a volume of 45 cubic meters started-up in Gubakha and the infrastructure for the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins was expanded. A large-scale reconstruction of the site infrastructure was carried out, a new water circulation system was put into operation, which fully ensures the production of resins with sufficient water to conduct the technological process and cool the finished products. As part of the project, a fan cooling tower was installed and the adjacent infrastructure was organized.
Today, Metadynea has two modern production sites in Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Gubakha, as well as a front office in Moscow. The company consistently manages to maintain leadership in the synthetic resin market. The company's resin product line is constantly expanding in accordance with market demands.
Metadynea has become not only the largest taxpayer of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, but also an active participant in the public life in the regions of its presence, going beyond its core activities. The company implements charity projects aimed at supporting people in difficult life situations, as well as educational initiatives that promote staff development and active cooperation with specialized and general educational institutions.
Igor Spassky, Managing Director of LLC Metadynea: “For 20 years, Metadyneahas prioritized meeting the needs of our customers by providing high and stable product quality, exceptional service and reliable partnership. The company doesn’t plan to stop there and continues to look for new ways for its development. Metadynea expresses its gratitude to its employees, partners and customers for their support throughout these years. There are new heights ahead, successes and achievements that will be achieved through the joint efforts of the entire team.”
