Resin production has been discussed at public hearings

On April 26th, public discussions were held in the Orekhovo-Zuyevo city district of the Moscow region regarding the subject of the state environmental expertise — the project documentation titled "Production of synthetic resins", which includes an environmental impact assessment. During project implementation, it is planned to gradually introduce new capacities for synthetic resin production at the site of "Metadynea" LLC, which will allow to increase the amount of the fabricated product by 429 975 tons per year.

The public hearings for the project took place at the Malodubenskiy community centre. More than 100 people participated in the discussions: representatives of the district administration, the management of "Metadynea" and "Metafrax" ETC" LLC, the public representatives and residents of the Orekhovo-Zuyevo city district. The information on "Metadynea", project details and environmental impact assessment were presented by top managers of "Metafrax Group".

Igor Spassky, the Managing Director of "Metadynea" LLC, introduced the current company plans to the participants and provided basic information on company’s activities. It was specifically noted that "Metadynea" is commited to strict compliance with approved company policy in the area of environmental safety, environmental protection and rational use of natural resources as well as the area of labour protection and industrial safety. The verification results on the status of readiness and response to natural and man-made emergencies were presented along with evaluation of "Metadynea" by inspectors as a leader among Orekhovo-Zuevo enterprises in this area. Moreover, Igor Spassky informed the attendees about the company's social programs aimed at employee support and about charitable activities, which are being carried out within the district.

Roman Bayazitov, the Deputy General Director – Engineering Director of ""Metafrax" Engineering and Technology Center" LLC, presented a detailed report on the project on behalf of the project documentation provider and on environmental impact assessment activities. According to company's plans, the introduction of additional capacities will occur in stages. The product range of the designed production facility will include urea-formaldehyde resins (UFR), which are used in production of chipboards and Medium Density Fiberboards (MDF), and urea-melamine-formaldehyde resins (UMFR), which are used in production of Oriented Strand Boards (OSB). In addition, as a result of the project implementation, it is planned to increase the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins (PFR) for plywood due to the capacity release of existing production facilities.

The assessment results of the impact on the socio-economic conditions of the region, which showed a positive effect in case of project implementation, were also noted during the speech. It is expected that the number of jobs will increase along with production potential Orekhovo-Zuyevo city district due to the receipt of taxes to the budget.

Tatiana Belova, the head of the HR Department of "Metadynea" LLC, spoke in detail regarding social benefits and employee adaptation and support programs, while answering questions from the audience. In regards to expansion of production capacities, she confirmed the plans to increase the number of jobs during the project implementation. It is planned to open more than 20 new job offerings. In addition, during the hearings, the participants asked questions regarding project's environmental safety. According to Ilya Ershov, the head of the process sector of ""Metafrax" ETC" LLC, the gas treatment equipment foreseen by the project ensures effective catalytic purification of emissions into the atmosphere. As a result of the emission calculations, it was found that during normal operation mode additional emissions of pollutants from the new production facility will not exceed one percent of the permitted emission standards and will not have a significant negative impact on the level of atmospheric pollution. In addition, Denis Gerasimov, the head of the Labour protection and Industrial safety Department of "Metadynea" LLC, noted the significant experience of the company in regards to implementation of the best available technologies, which reduce negative environmental impact and ensure environmental safety.

During the discussion, the management and specialists of "Metadynea" LLC and "Metafrax" ETC" LLC answered all of the questions of the participants of the hearings in detail. As a result, the residents who were present at the meeting were able to comprehensively gain familiarity with the project.
