Victory Day Rally

Victory Day Rally

On May 7, a solemn event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was held in Orekhovo-Zuyevo in the square near the monument to soldiers who worked in Karbolit.

Irina Govorova, Deputy Head of the Orekhovo-Zuyevo town district, addressed the rally participants with a welcoming speech:

“On this significant day, filled with deep respect and memory, we bow our heads before the feat of those who defended the freedom and independence of our motherland. The events organized by industrial enterprises are a vivid testimony to the recognition of the invaluable contribution of veterans and homefront workers to the common victory.”

Igor Spassky, Managing Director of Metadynea, also addressed the gathered townspeople.

"We must do everything so that the feat of our people in the Great Patriotic War, the feat of the soldiers of the Red Army, naval forces and homefront workers, isn’t forgotten. After 80 years, we’ll continue to preserve the historical memory of that war, not to forget its lessons and consequences. We must remember the price of victory, how many lives were lost, and how much grief and destruction this war brought. Therefore, I congratulate you on the upcoming holiday, I wish you good health, prosperity and a peaceful sky over your head. Happy 80th anniversary of the Great Victory!”

Maxim Batuyev, Managing Director of the Karbolit Industrial Park, also joined the congratulations and stressed the importance of the people’s feat:

“When veterans came to us, they didn't always talk about the war itself. More often, it’s about the feat of ordinary people who were close to them, about those who worked in the homefront for victory and did everything possible for the common cause. Today is a celebration of the heroic deeds of every family, because there’s no family left in our country that hasn’t been affected by the war. I’m sincerely grateful to everyone who came today to pay tribute with us. Happy Victory Day!”

An important part of the event was the flower-laying ceremony. Not only adults, but also young residents of Orekhovo-Zuyevo, and students of school No. 12, honored the memory of the fallen heroes and laid scarlet carnations at the Monument to the soldiers who worked for Karbolit. The rally participants paid tribute to the fallen with a minute of silence.

Fyodor Strokun, Chairman of the Karbolit’s council of veterans, addressed the audience:

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, a great event that determined our fate. Now you’re taking over the baton of memory and responsibility from the generations who defended peace and freedom. The last of our Karbolit veterans passed away a year ago, and now you’re the guardians of their feat. The names of the heroes will forever remain on the obelisk tiles and in our memory. Study, choose a profession you like and according to your conscience, one that will benefit the town and people. With your hard work, you continue the work of those who gave everything for the future.”

The solemn event was accompanied by performances of town’s creative teams. There were military songs and patriotic poems filled with gratitude and pride for the feat of generations.
