About sustainable development – in a modern and relevant format

At a meeting of the Committee on Sustainable Business Development of the Perm Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), interim results of work under the trilateral cooperation agreement between JSC Metafrax Chemicals with the PCCI and the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) were summed up.

In the first quarter of 2024, a series of workshops on sustainable development was held at the PCCI site within the framework of the agreement. Yulia Ershova, a leading expert of JSC Metafrax Chemicals, made a report on these events.

The participants of the meetings discussed four blocks of issues: "Green office – green city" and "Certification of green construction"; "Sustainable development and ESG transformation for small businesses. Practices of understanding and application"; "Along the path of ESG business transformation. The main stages and standards. E-component: calculation of the carbon footprint, the market of carbon units in the Russian Federation, the implementation of climate projects and the use of green electricity certificates"; "The company's carbon footprint and the main tools of the climate strategy".

The number of registered participants of the master classes was 85 people. The audience includes owners and managers of companies, students of higher educational institutions, and specialists in sustainable development. Since the master classes are held in a mixed format (face-to-face and online format), residents of Perm and Perm Region, as well as Moscow, Sakhalin, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and other regions joined the events.

The organizers receive positive feedback from the participants of the events and requests to continue the master classes.

- Master classes provide an opportunity for students to understand the difficult topic of sustainable development. The speakers disclose information on the development of the legislation of the Russian Federation in this area, adaptation to climate change, the basics of ESG transformation of companies, description of ESG risks and other issues that are of interest to companies now or will become interesting in the near future, - summed up Yulia Ershova.

Anastasia Belenkova, Chairman of the PCCI Committee on Sustainable Business Development, stressed the relevance of the sustainable development agenda in Russia, the value of the events and outlined the expediency of expanding activities to popularize ESG principles on the PСCI platform with the involvement of chambers of commerce and industry of other regions of the country.
