Best in Profession
In April 2022, the Ural Chemical Technological College (UCTC, Gubakha, Perm Territory) held a science and professional month called "My Profession is My Future".
More than a hundred first-year students took their first steps in science at a public presentation of their individual projects. UCTC students also took part in a number of All-Russian Olympiads, intellectual championships, competitions and creative workshops. There were some events organized for school students of Gubakha. In addition, participants of PJSC Metafrax Chemicals' annual contest for the best scientific research work among young professionals presented their works at the college.
One of the key events of the month was the professional skills competition among students in all fields of education. Competitive programs for each profession included both theoretical questions and practical tasks, closely resembling the work performed in the workplace. A total of 56 students took part in the professional skills competitions.
Participants in competition for the best Chemical Process Operator performed work on a laboratory distillation unit. Vladimir Trofimov became a winner. Participants in competition for the best Chemistry Lab Technician used a spectrophotometer to determine the content of copper in a solution using the photocolorimetric method. Anna Boitsova was recognized as the best.
The tasks for the Repair Fitter profession included manufacturing of detail on the basis of the drawing, preparing of the sketch for a sliding bearing, check of a shaft for run-out and check of stop valve. Vladimir Kozhenin became a winner. Participants in competition for the best Welding Technician performed the welding of a pipe butt joint using the rotary method. Vladislav Schelkonogov and Yegor Feshchenko became leaders.
It should be reminded that the joint project of PJSC Metafrax Chemicals and the Ural Chemical Technological College (UCTC) "Turnkey Personnel" on professional training of students and employment of college graduates at the enterprise was included in 7 best practices of the Russian Federation subjects in the direction "Mechanisms facilitating further employment of graduates". Over the past 2 years, a number of unique simulation facilities and laboratories have been created and equipped with modern training equipment, using the company's funds under public-private co-financing. Metafrax Chemicals also plans to invest more than 7 million RUB in the development of the UCTC in 2022.
