Opening performances and "Golden Mask" nominees
The organizers of the "Secrets of mount Krestovaya" festival presented the event program of 2023.
On April 14th, at the conference hall of the business publication "Kommersant-Prikamye", a press conference was held by organizers of the XII International theatrical landscape festival "Secrets of mount Krestovaya". In 2023, the festival will be held from June 30th to July 5th at the natural locations of Gubakha.
Armen Garslyan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Metafrax Group", noted that one of the most important tasks of the festival is to demonstrate the potential of both Gubakha and the entire Perm region.
- Gubakha is transformed every year. The all–season resort, the victories of hockey players and figure skaters – pupils of the new Ice rink, renovated parks and squares, new houses and much more – those are elements of a new level and quality of life. "Secrets of mount Krestovaya" is an equally important component of the ongoing changes. They are founded on the synergetic effect from the efforts of the city-forming enterprises, regional and city authorities, the general public of the district, - highlighted Armen Garslyan.
The first performances of the festival will be held at the plateau of Rudyansky spoy on June 30th. According to Lyubov Zaitseva, the director of the festival and the artistic director of "Dominanta" Youth Theater, the Chelyabinsk theaters will present their performances on this day. The Modern Dance Theater will present the "Dandelions" performance - a nominee of the Russian theatrical "Golden Mask" award. Chelyabinsk State Drama "Chamber Theater" will show the performance titled "Dostoevsky. The game of...".
The official opening of the festival will be held on July 1st. A large-scale event titled "Ballet at Sunset" will take place on mount Krestovaya. Perm Opera and Ballet Theater will demonstrate fragments from the "Gayane" ballet. Maria Konovalova, the Chairman of the organizing committee of the festival and the Director of Strategic Communications of "Metafrax Group", stated that Perm region definitely deserves this wonderful production in the year of Perm's 300th anniversary.
- It is pleasant that our long-time partners from the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater have restored a choreographic fragment of Aram Khachaturyan's most famous ballet. From the very beginning, we presented the festival as part of the program for Perm's 300th anniversary. Aram Khachaturyan wrote the famous "Sabre Dance" in the capital of the Kama region. We decided to build a concept around this fact and chose "Gayane" as the central event, - shared Maria Konovalova.
The draft of the "Stone Flower" ballet by Anton Pimonov, the head of the ballet company at Perm Opera and Ballet Theater, and fragments of Valery Gavrilin's "Anyuta" ballet will also be presented at the festival's opening for the first time. It is planned that for the first time in the history of the open-air festival, the ballet dancers will be accompanied by the orchestra of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.
The territories of the "ghost town" of Upper Gubakha, the decorations for "The Heart of Parma" movie and the all-season "Gubakha" resort will also be used as festival sites. The following establishments will be performing: K. Stanislavskiy's Armenian State Russian Drama Theater, "Dominanta" studio theater, "New Drama" Perm Chamber Theater, Perm Puppet Theater, Lysva Drama Theater, "Ballet of Evgeny Panfilov", "Nikitinskiy" Voronezh Theater center, "Workshop of Tanya Strelbitskaya" Moscow theater. Alla Platonova, the Minister of Culture of the Perm region, considers "Secrets of mount Krestovaya" to be one of the most inspiring events of the region and a model example for other districts of the region.

The theatrical landscape festival "Secrets of mount Krestovaya" has been held in Gubakha since 2012. Over the past years, the festival has been attended by more than 80 thousand spectators, more than 250 thousand people watched it online. "Metafrax" became a winner of the first "Leader of the Perm region" competition in the "Tourism" nomination due to organization of the "Secrets of mount Krestovaya" festival in 2022.
