Plunged into history and visited tropics

The lawyers of Metafrax Group visited the Perm State National Research University. During the trip, at the initiative of the Director of Legal Affairs of the Management Company of Metafrax Group, Simon Vihnin, they visited the Museum of Justice of the Perm Region, the Museum of History of Perm University and the Botanical Garden, named after Professor A.G. Genkel.

The first object of the trip was the Museum of the History of the Perm State National Research University. Now the campus of the classical university is one of the business cards of the city, a significant place for many Permians, and at the beginning of the XXth century there was a disadvantaged suburb, where people lived and worked, most of whom could not read. The philanthropist, the founder of the university, Nikolai Meshkov, had to prove for several years the need to create a higher educational institution in the Urals. Of particular pride are the world–famous scientists, who stood at the origins of the first Perm University: Alexey Zavarzin – the founder of evolutionary histology, Georgy Vernadsky – a historian, one of the theorists of Eurasianism, Alexander Friedman - the founder of the theory of the unsteady universe and others.

Also, thanks to Nikolai Meshkov, the Botanical garden of the Perm University was established, which nowadays is one of the ten largest living collections of plants in the country and has the largest collection of citrus species and varieties in Russia. Employees of the legal department of Metafrax Group viewed the exposition of its stock greenhouse, where plants of the Permian period, dry and humid tropics are presented. It was incredible to see tropical fruits, as well as to learn interesting facts, for example, that the popular houseplant araucaria grows up to 50 meters in the wild nature.

The third museum, visited by colleagues, was the Museum of Justice. It is one of the youngest museums of the Perm State National Research University, but it is especially important for lawyers, since the significant names of the Perm justice are well known to them. The museum's exposition demonstrates the documents and photographs of the history of institutions and activities of the Perm District and regional courts; the prosecutor's office, the notary, the attorneyship, the judicial authorities of the Perm Region and Russia.

- Despite the fact that Perm University is alma mater for many of us, not everyone had the opportunity to visit its unique museums before. The participants of the trip managed to feel the student atmosphere again and learn something new about a seemingly familiar place," said Simon Vihnin.
